Reiki has been used for centuries to help with anything from pain to cancer and so much more. I would never claim for Reiki to cure something such as cancer but if it helps relieve any issues such as nausea or help with appetite how can that be a bad thing for anyone.
Everyone reacts differently to a session and there are never any two sessions alike. The energy will go to wherever the clients needs it too. A client may come in wanting to have help with pain in their back but the energy focuses on their stress and anxiety. As a result the back could also get some relief or it may not. This does not mean the session was a failure it means that the energy worked where it needed at that time. Another session they could have very different results.
I always go over some things to expect with each client before and after a session. I give the client time to ask questions as well. In order to have the best experience there has to be trust. This is one reason I like to do session in our Salt Room. The atmosphere helps the client relax and the easier they relax the better the energy can follow.
Lets go over somethings to expect from a session. I do not massage. Reiki can be used in massage but I personally am not a massage therapist. I ask permission before I touch a client. Touch can trigger trauma response in lots of people so I never touch without permission. Even if it is their 5th session I still ask. Some people may feel sick to their stomach, dizzy or drained for a day or two after a session. Drink plenty of water and their body may take a few days to adjust to the energy. These are a few pointers for anyone to keep in mind going into a session.
Over the years I have had people come to me for so many different reasons from addiction, pain, trauma and so much more. I always feel honored after a session when the client walks out either feeling better or has a release of some type during a session.
